Every time I am in a conversation with neighbors, friends, family, and acquaintances, even radio talk show personalities, I am amazed that most people still confuse radical political Islam as a issue of freedom of religion. It seems my fellow Americans are victims of the Jihad Denial Syndrome. Rather than face the real and present danger of those who are committed to destroying us from within by using our freedoms against us, it seems people would rather shoot the messenger. I have to wonder, have we forgotten the lessons to be learned from studying the Trojan War?
The Trojan War was fought over a 10 year span between Troy and Greece. At the end of the first 9 years, the war had taken toll on the Trojan economy. At same time Greece acquired more resources through the spoils of war. However, despite the victories enjoyed by Greece, the Greek military could not penetrate the walls of Troy and enter the city itself.
A scheme was devised for entry into the city. The Greeks built a large wooden horse with hollow insides that could carry Greek warriors. When construction was completed and the warriors hidden inside, the horse was placed outside the city gates. The rest of the Greek fleet appeared to sail away. The Trojans felt a sense of security; they believed the wooden horse was a gift, the war with Greece was over and despite the opposition and warnings of a few, brought the wooden horse inside the city gates.
The Trojans began a wild victory celebration. When the they finally stopped partying and either passed out or fell asleep, the Greeks climbed down from the belly of the Trojan Horse, opened the city gates and ushered the rest of the waiting troops into the city. The Greeks then ransacked, destroyed, and burned Troy.
Fast forward to 2010 and our battle with radical or political Islam. It is a battle we have been in since 911. Our economy is failing, our self-estem as a nation is eroding. Then arrives the Trojan Horse. It takes many forms one of which is freedom of religion, a guaranteed right under the First Amendment.
In the name of “freedom of religion,” Sharia complaint Muslims are seeking to enact Sharia rather than abide by the laws of our land. For example, Sharia compliant Muslims condone honor killings, rape, and domestic abuse all of which is against the law in the US yet have occurred here. Sharia law requires non-Muslims never question Mohammad or Islam – so “they” demand (with death threats) Comedy Central not air the series with references to Mohammad. Sharia complaint Islamist are seeking to build a mosque/cultural center near Ground Zero. These demands and practices are not merely expressions of “freedom of religion” they are evidence of cultural stealth jihad.
This Trojan horse, trumps our culture and our freedoms despite the loud voices of such organizations as ACT! for America, Stop Islamization of America, Center for Security Policy and the Walid Shoebat Foundation to name a few. And just like the Trojans, we celebrate. We celebrate our apparent tolerance, openness and acceptance of the Muslim’s right to practice their faith as they wish despite it being a jihadi attack by poltical radical Islamists and the antithesis of what we stand for as Americans..
