Shariah Law and the First Ammendment

The first amendment of the US Constitution prohibits the government from establishing a state (or national) religion as well as, protects the individuals right to religious observance.   The interpretation of this amendment has been the source of debate for years and  shows no signs of going any where.  Now enters Islam and Sharia law into the conversation.  Those who adhere to Islam with the observance of  Sharia Law claim as their right the freedom to practice ”their faith.”  However, what happens when the practice of one’s faith requires the overthrow of the government?

At the crux of the battle between Islamic and Western Culture is Sharia Law.  Shariah is more than the outgrowth of religion, it is in fact a legal, political and military system wrapped in religious garb.  Sharia law is based on  the Qur’an, the Hadith, and the Sunnah.  Shariah Law provides the foundation for the strategy and actions of  the Muslim Brotherhood, Jihadists and all radical Islamist, in addition to governments of many Middle Eastern and African Nations.  To say or to think that these two sets of law can co-exist in the same county, city, state or country is deceptive and invites destruction.   Shariah and the U.S. Constitution are incompatible. Shariah Law is a  totalitarian system.  It is seditious; it calls for the establishment of Islamic government and jurisprudence IN PLACE OF the US Constitution.  This is not what our forefathers were trying to protect when they penned the Constitution, in fact it is the antithesis.   Islam means “submission” and Sharia Law is the system for living out that “submission.”  America, let’s not lose any more of our freedoms . . .  (Tip of the hat to Dorrie)

Islam: Socially engineered society with its own laws and customs that seriously conflict with American law

Islam Is Not A Religion, It Is Foreign Law

By JR Dieckmann  Wednesday, September 1, 2010

The time has come to question if Islam is protected under our First Amendment rights to freedom of religion. Yes, everyone in America has the right to freedom of religion, but Islam is not a religion. Religious faith is only a part of Islam. The rest is a socially engineered society with its own laws and customs that seriously conflict with American law.

Is Great Britain a religion because they have the Church of England? Of course not. Britain has an established charter, civil and criminal laws, and a society that respects those laws. Islam has the Qur’an that provides the governing charter, complete with laws, punishment, and social behavior for its people in addition to its religious teachings. If Islam is a religion, then Britain is also.

We must recognize that religion is only one aspect of Islam‘s Qur’an. The rest of this charter advances ideas, social behavior, and laws that are in direct conflict with American and western laws and values. Teddy Roosevelt once said that to live in America, immigrants must have undivided loyalty to America and to no one else. How is that possible for Muslims who swear loyalty to Islam where their governing laws are found in the Qur‘an?

  1. If it weren’t for the First Amendment’s freedom of religion provision, Sharia law wouldn’t even be an issue. Furthermore, much of the argument that Constitutionalists employ against Islam being more than a religion but a way of life can, and is, often employed against Christendom. The biblical answer is not to eliminate Sharia law, but to eliminate the First Amendment’s provision for all First Commandment violations and, with it, the rest of the Constitution, which in nearly every article and amendment is antagonistic to Yahweh’s morality as found codified in His Commandments, statutes and judgments.

    • The First Amendment’s freedom of religion provision prohibits CONGRESS from making laws about religion, speech, the press, or assembly! The US Constitution does not define God nor require anyone to have one God, any God or no other gods. Sharia law can and does contain laws that regulate religious practice, speech and assembly. Sharia governs the lives of any one who does not practice that faith. (See Non-Believers Under Muslim LawNon-Believers Under Muslim Law) It is a military, political as well as religious system. Under the US Constitution one is free to be a heathen, a pagan, a Buddhist, Christian or a Jew. Since every one is to be in subjection to the governing authorities because there is no authority except from God, and those which exist are established by God, I would rather be governed by the US Constitution than by Sharia.
